Happy to be back home after an eventful trip up the coast.
Happy to be back home after an eventful trip up the coast.

Our inaugural sail on the new boat was quite the adventure, taking us from Oxnard up the California coast to the San Francisco Bay in late November. With our trusty crew—friend Jim and brother-in-law Keith—we started off under calm skies, breezing past Point Conception like pros and making a quick coffee stop in Monterey. But as we neared Half Moon Bay that pesky storm that had been sitting 200 miles offshore decided to join the party. The storm poured rain and tossed us around in 10-foot waves and 35 knot winds in the pitch-black of night. We sought refuge in Half Moon Bay and navigated a nail-biting entrance into the unlit breakwater of Half Moon Bay harbor (which we swore we'd never do again). We woke up the next morning to a thick layer of fog and looking like a bunch of haggard sea zombies. But hey, we crossed under the Golden Gate Bridge around 10 AM with huge grins and a bottle of champagne. Everyone returned safe and our "new to us" boat returned to it's original home in Northern California!
